To whom it may concern,
Since 2010 we have subdivided 2 properties retaining and renovating the original houses on both properties. We have a preference for older style houses which require a lot of carpentry and creative thinking.
In both properties we have used Nik Peran as our Site Manager and Builder/Carpenter.
The first property at 11 Humphry Street, St James was a very small 1950’s asbestos house. Being so small we wanted to create a large indoor/outdoor living area both at the front and at the back.
Nik was a crucial part to creating the design. Nik also completed all of the construction and carpentry work which was as follows,
- Replacing asbestos with new cladding on the whole exterior
- Replacing existing dilapidated single carport with a freestanding double timber carport with trussed roof with extra storage
- Removing old dilapidated front porch with a full length timber Veranda including balustrading and decking
- Removing old back porch and decking, replacing with new restumped back verandah and customised gazebo
- Removing old non-standard size front door and customising new front door to fit.
The Second property at 11 Mint St, East Victoria Park was a 1920’s Brick Veneer house. The Garage and the back of the house needed to be completely rebuilt and the front porch and front yard dimensions also needed creative renovating to comply with council. Again Nik was a crucial part to creating the design as well as the completion of all the construction and carpentry which was as follows,
- Demolition of the garage roof and reconstructing a new one that maintained the 1920’s design of the house.
- Removed the front porch concrete pillars and replaced with appropriate timber pillars
- Remodelled a section of the back timber veranda
- Extended the garage and designed and built an innovative stairway from the garage extension to the back verandah complete with secured doors.
Nik obviously has a passion for carpentry and design which clearly can be seen in all of his extremely high quality workmanship. Nik is a pleasure to work with and will always be our go-to person on any future building projects that we may have.
